Bohemian Weekend Guide- How Bohemians Do Weekends

This is your guide to creating a bohemian weekend... A Five Step Guide to a Bohemian Weekend.

1. Consult the Tarot... pull a three card spread... one representing the past, one for the present, and one for the future.... Should I stay...or Should I go? Get a little insight on how to roll out your bohemian weekend.

2. When Lounging…Wear a Kaftan, and Don't Lounge with Your Shoes On- the Kaftan...the universal "uniform" of Bohemian Weekends, comfortable, stylish, and unisex...in a Kaftan you are ready for anything.

3. When traveling .... Pack a Turban- OK maybe not everyone can pull off a turban...but if you can rock it, do it! If a turban isn't your vibe, instead pack a large square scarf, small enough to fit in your purse...a square scarf can come in handy for an impromptu "costume change"...fold it corner to corner and create a top, or use it get your hair under control after being caught in the rain, after a swim, or a windy ride with top down. (Note: I once had the strap on my purse break at a concert...I opened up the scarf...which was conveniently in my purse..., put everything in the center, tied it up corner to corner, secured it with a hair tie...which created a loop at the top, over the shoulder or around the wrist, good to go.)

4. Loosen Up and Say Yes- the mantra of the bohemian weekend, embrace variety and spontaneity, say yes to the invite...try something new...drive off the beaten path, go to the art exhibit, explore a new yoga studio, take a breath work class, go to a sound bath...begin collecting experiences, it will be worth it.

5. Bohemian Weekend Prep...Nomadic Sophistication is in the Preparation- Even bohemians prepare for the weekend... When it's time to say yes...be ready. Have a bag packed...getting prepared for spontaneity seems like an oxymoron but trust me, when someone says "I'll be there in ten" it's a lot easier to say yes when you know you have clean underwear in the bag. A small over-nite bag with a few items can make an adventure so much more enjoyable. This bag may vary depending on climate but for summer you need: bathing suit, sarong, square scarf, two pair of undies, toothbrush and toothpaste, hair brush, sun block, lip balm, cleansing towelettes, band-aids, phone charger, and $40.00 in cash in varying denominations. Keep it packed and ready to go. Say yes...grab your bag, and roll out.

"Jumping from boulder to boulder and never falling, with a heavy pack, is easier than it sounds; you just can't fall when you get into the rhythm of the dance."

Jack Kerouac, The Dharma Bums

And of course...enjoy the journey
